Hannah Petty says Crows target is “keen to move home” to SA at some stage

Melbourne tall Harrison Petty almost made a move to Adelaide during the recently completed trade period, but any trade was flatly rejected by the Demons.

Petty is contracted until the end of the 2025 season, but the Crows tried to ply him away from the Demons with a reported five-year offer.

The utility himself confirmed that he considered a move back to his home state but was “totally fine” with Melbourne’s decision to knock back Adelaie’s advances.

Petty is close to his family and grew up in Wuddina, South Australia. His sister Hannah is also a professional athlete and is the captain of the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Super Netball.

Speaking to SEN SA The Run Home, Hannah discussed Adelaide’s approach to her brother with host Kym Dillon, where she admitted that Harrison is keen to come home at some stage.

Dillon: “How close did your brother come to becoming a crow? Did you talk to him about it?”

Petty: “I had a few conversations with him about it.

“I mean, he's keen to move home at some stage, but when that happens, who knows?

“He's pretty happy in Melbourne as well. I think the biggest thing is that if he's happy playing footy (in Melbourne), then I just am fully here to support him.”

Dillon: “You're a beautiful sister. But if you were to put your Australian netball career on the line, would you say he'd turn up after next year? One more season at Melbourne, then come to Adelaide?”

Petty: “Who knows, the future will tell I guess (laughs).”

Dillon: “I reckon that’s what will happen because he'll have one year on his contract and they'll get the deal done.”

Harrison Petty has played 62 games for Melbourne including the 2021 premiership since being drafted with pick No. 37 in the 2017 Draft.
