UPDATE

The West Coast Eagles have confirmed that Don Pyke has been appointed as the club’s new CEO.

He will formally commence with the Eagles on January 15 next year.

“I am excited to be returning home to a Club I love in the West Coast Eagles where I have such wonderful memories and am proud and honoured to be given the responsibility to lead the Club forward,” Pyke said via a club statement.

“This is a pivotal time for our Club, our people and our supporters to pursue excellence to attain success again. I am very much looking forward to working with everyone across the entire organisation as we build towards the 2024 season.”

EARLIER

Don Pyke will be the next CEO of the West Coast Eagles, reports SEN’s Tom Morris.

The Eagles great, who won two premierships and a best and fairest across a 132-game playing career, will return to the club to step into the role long-held by Trevor Nisbett.

Pyke, an Eagles Life Member, will depart his role as Sydney Swans assistant, which opens up a coaching position under John Longmire.

Long-standing chief executive Nisbett will finish his 25-year stint in October, 2024 with Pyke set to become the successor to the incumbent.

Pyke was a director at the Eagles from 2001 until 2004 and also served as assistant coach under Adam Simpson in 2014 and 2015 before taking the head coaching job at the Adelaide Crows prior to the 2016 season.

He spent four seasons at the helm of the Crows, leading the club to the 2017 Grand Final, before moving to the Swans as Longmire’s assistant in late 2020.

Pyke is set to become the club’s fifth CEO.
