“They are all first graders”: Bulldogs add more depth to their 2024 playing roster

2023-11-09T10:10+11:00

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have engaged in a signing blitz and have announced four new players to be added to their roster for the 2024 season.

The Bulldogs announced on Wednesday that Newcastle utility Kurt Mann, Dolphins prop Poasa Faamausili and Roosters pair Jake Turpin and Drew Hutchison have joined the club.

The Daily Telegraph's Michael Caryannnis believes all four of those players are positive acquisitions for the Bulldogs who had a disappointing 2023 season.

“They have been holding these off,” Carayannis said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“They have all signed two-year deals to join the Bulldogs next year.

“They are all first graders and they have been brought in to strengthen the squad.

“That is what the Bulldogs are all about this year aside from Stephen Crichton who is a headline signing.

“All the rest of the players have just proven themselves to be solid first graders.”

Those players join a host of names joining the Bulldogs including South Sydney fullback Blake Taaffe, Bronson Xerri, Jaeman Salmon and Josh Curran.

However, Carayannis noted that the Bulldogs are yet to announce the signing of premiership winning forward Sio Siua Taukeiaho.

“Still not announced is Taukeiaho who has signed for the Bulldogs for next season on a good money deal,” Carayannis added.

“That’s because he hasn’t officially been released from Catalans (in the Super League).

“He still has a deal with Catalans and Catalans are still trying to work out with the Bulldogs what sort of compensation they will receive to release him.

“He arrived at the club as a marquee signing and he has only played seven games this year.

“It hasn’t worked out for Catalans.”
