Backline chaos: Another key tall goes down to leave Roos floundering in defence

2023-12-12T17:41+11:00

North Melbourne’s already slim key defender stocks have copped another blow with the news Aidan Corr has suffered a significant ankle sprain.

The Roos reported on Tuesday afternoon that Corr, 29, injured his ankle last Friday while on a pre-season camp on the Gold Coast.

Corr is expected to return to a modified training program in January and his anticipated fitness for Round 1, 2024 is unclear.

But the 195cm tall would be in some doubt to line up against GWS on March 16. At the very least, it's a blow for North Melbourne's training depth.

Fellow key defender Griffin Logue is already set to miss much of 2024 with a ruptured ACL, with the Roos pinning their hopes on recruit Toby Pink in the key defender stocks.

Charlie Comben may also be swung back in 2024, with co-captain Luke McDonald at 189cms able to lend a hand.

But Corr presented as among the most important Roos heading into 2024 and Alastair Clarkson will have to get creative if Corr is to miss early in the season.

Meanwhile, it’s also been revealed Tarryn Thomas underwent a procedure two weeks ago that was to assist in improving his groin soreness.

North Melbourne expects to have the dynamic midfielder back in full training post-Christmas.
