Report: Luai commits to Tigers from 2025 onwards on enormous money

2023-12-16T14:06+11:00

The Wests Tigers’ desperate ploy to land Jarome Luai has succeeded, with the Panthers star agreeing to a five-year deal worth more than $6 million to join the joint-venture club.

The Tigers had put all their eggs in the Luai basket after years of failed recruitment in a bid to end a 12-year finals drought.

Now, the Sydney Morning Herald’s Michael Chammas reports Luai has committed to the Tigers from 2025 onwards.

It comes despite the bombshell earlier this week that six of seven board members and CEO Justin Pascoe had departed the Tigers in a club upheaval.

Luai was reported to be offered upwards of $1.2 million per year by the Tigers.

Penrith now has 10 days to convince Luai to change his mind, while the half also has the option to withdraw from the deal.

The 26-year-old took to Instagram on Saturday afternoon.

“No pen to paper here,” he wrote on an Instagram story, adding he would let fans know when a deal was complete.

Interim Tigers CEO Shane Richardson revealed exclusively to SEN earlier this week that his club had withdrawn an offer to Warriors forward Addin Fonua-Blake.
