Carlton forward suffers ACL tear at training

2024-01-25T14:53+11:00

Carlton’s Jack Silvagni has ruptured his ACL at training today.

The Blues forward endured an injury interrupted 2023, but was enjoying a full pre-season ahead of the 2024 campaign.

Silvagni has been ruled out for the 2024 season.

The 26-year-old has played 115 career games for Carlton since being selected in the 2015 National Draft.

Carlton Head of Footy Brad Lloyd confirmed the news on Thursday afternoon.

“Jack had put in such a significant body of work over summer to put himself in a great position to attack the year, so we are all really feeling for Jack right now,” Carlton General Manager of Football Brad Lloyd told the club's website.

“While the emotion right now is one of disappointment, it is well known that Jack’s work ethic and commitment to the football club is unwavering, and it is his strong character that will be his biggest strength through his recovery process.

“We will be with him every step of the way through his rehab, and no doubt the entire Carlton faithful will be. With the energy he brings, he’ll continue to have a positive impact around the Club and within the playing group throughout this season.”

Silvagni played 16 games in 2023, kicking 14 goals and averaging 13 disposals and four marks.
