Mahomes' legacy grows in historic overtime Super Bowl victory

2024-02-12T14:50+11:00

Patrick Mahomes’ legacy has grown further, securing his third Super Bowl win in five years, defeating the 49ers in overtime.

The Chiefs fought back from a slow start to win 25-22 in a dramatic affair that required extra time.

It’s back-to-back Super Bowl wins for Kansas City, while Mahomes’ pursuit of Tom Brady as the greatest of all-time continues. Brady of course has seven rings.

Christian McCaffrey was the star for San Francisco on offence finishing with 80 receiving yards, 80 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Jauan Jennings was the surprise star, throwing and catching a touchdown for the 49ers – he came into the game at $301 for MVP and at one stage in the fourth quarter, he was a live chance.

However it was Mahomes who drove down in both the fourth quarter and in overtime and got the job done.
