David King’s 6 locks for the Top 8 in 2024

2024-02-23T06:40+11:00

David King has six teams he is confident will play finals in season 2024.

The two-time North Melbourne premiership player admits he is struggling to come up with his final eight for the upcoming campaign.

However, he does at least have most of it locked away.

“I cannot come full circle on what my eight looks like,” he said on SEN Breakfast.

“This is where I’m at - I’ve got six teams I’m definitely putting in.

“Collingwood, Brisbane, GWS, Carlton, Sydney and St Kilda.

“They’re definitely going in. They’re my Top 6, if you like.

“I think those six teams are playing finals.”

King has a grouping of seven sides sitting just outside the eight that the final two positions in his eight will be made up from.

He feels the introduction of Opening Round will cause a bit of chaos for the make-up of the ladder in the early stages of the season.

“Then I’ve got a group of seven that I’ve got no idea what’s going to happen with them - Western Bulldogs, Melbourne, Adelaide, Port Adelaide, Fremantle, Gold Coast and Essendon,” he added.

“I’ve got no idea what their seasons are going to be, and a lot will depend on - as it always does - the first six weeks of the season.

“The ladder this year will tell more lies in the fist six weeks than it ever has done because of the bye structure.

“We won’t have parity until Round 6.”
