WATCH: Star Cat goes down with apparent soft-tissue injury in first minute of practice match

2024-02-22T11:45+11:00

Geelong star Cam Guthrie went down in the first 30 seconds of Thursday’s practice match against Carlton at IKON Park.

The 31-year-old fell after attempting to kick following the first centre bounce of the game, appearing to grab at his upper right leg after the ball left his boot.

Guthrie was helped from the ground by trainers and immediately went down into the rooms upon leaving the ground and the Cats confirmed that the injury was a quad concern.

The 2020 All-Australian and 2022 premiership player played just six games in 2023 due to a toe injury.

Geelong begin their season proper in just three and a half weeks when they host St Kilda at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday, March 16.
