After the One NZ Warriors were a win away from reaching the NRL Grand Final last season, expectations, at least on New Zealand's side of the ditch, were higher than they've potentially ever been.
Two rounds into the 2024 season and the Warriors are 0-2, but it's not panic stations yet.
The Auckland-based club followed up their opening 16-12 defeat at home to the Cronulla Sharks with an improved effort in Melbourne in Round 2, turning around a 18-6 half-time deficit to be leading in the final minutes.
It took an incredible display of athleticism by Storm winger Xavier Coates to deny the Warriors a long-awaited victory at AAMI Park, losing 30-26.
Now, the Warriors head south to Christchurch, bringing a home game to the rugby league-loving Canterbury region. They showed up in numbers for a trial match ahead of the new season, and strong numbers are again expected at Apollo Projects Stadium on Friday night.
There they will face the undefeated Canberra Raiders, however Warriors head coach Andrew Webster believes his side has learnt from those two losses and are motivated to attack.
On Tuesday, the head coach spoke with Israel Dagg and Riccardo Ball on SENZ Breakfast as focus shifts towards Round 3.
