The teams are officially in for the Round 2 clash between St Kilda and Collingwood at the MCG on Thursday night.
Both teams are in search of their first win of the season after the Saints went down to the Cats in Round 1, while the Pies lost to the Giants in Opening Round and Swans last Friday.
For the Saints, star defender Jack Sinclair and Zak Jones come in for Lance Collard and Brad Crouch, while the Pies have axed Ash Johnson, John Noble and Charlie Dean as well as managing Will Hoskin-Elliott for Reef McInnes, Billy Frampton and Tom Mitchell.
SEN Sportsday’s Brad Johnson and Kane Cornes reacted to the teams being released on Wednesday night with the duo shocked by Crouch’s axing.
Johnson: “Brad Crouch goes out and he is omitted.
“He had 15 disposals on the weekend, last year he finished with 651 for the season.”
Cornes: “It’s nearly 30 a game.”
Johnson: “There must be some other things that he just didn't align with from what Ross is asking.”
Cornes: “Maybe he's just not fit enough, he had some niggles and was injured and definitely didn't get the full pre-season (in summer).”
Johnson: “Surely he had some runs on the board from last year to last more than Round 1.
“It's got to be deeper as you said, than just his output of 15 disposals last week.”
Cornes: “For the Pies Billy Frampton is in no surprises there, Tom Mitchell and Reef McInnes are in … what do you make of those?
Johnson: “I think the Reef McInnes had to occur and same with (Frampton).
“Tom Mitchell was managed last week but he’s straight back into the coalface where they need that harder, more experienced body in around the contest to feed out and get some of the runners going on the outside.”
