Why “it could be a huge night” for Cameron against inexperienced Crows defence

2024-03-22T13:50+11:00

Geelong superstar Jeremy Cameron could be set for a fill-up in front of goals on Friday night against Adelaide according to Kane Cornes.

Cameron started the year on strongly in Round 1 against St Kilda, racking up 21 disposals to go with 2.3 in the win at GMHBA Stadium.

Playing primarily on All-Australian Callum Wilkie in that game, Cornes thinks that Cameron will be even more dominant against a far lesser-known opponent as the Crows’ main concern is their key defensive stocks.

“I’m just going to put this on the agenda, who plays on Jeremy Cameron?” Cornes asked on SEN Breakfast.

“Is it going to be a big night for Jeremy Cameron tonight?

“I'm looking at Adelaide's defence and it's a big job for Max Michalanney. I mean, he’s impressive, but it's his second year and Jeremy Cameron's going to get up the ground, he's going to get back (to goal).

“He looks sharp, he looks fit, he looks hardened. So, it could be a huge night on the agenda for Jeremy Cameron.”

With Jordon Butts likely to go to Tom Hawkins, it leaves one of Josh Worrell, Mark Keane or Michalanney to play on Cameron.

Cornes thinks that any of those matchups suit the Cat with stopping Cameron the key concern for Adelaide ahead of the clash at their home ground.

“(Jordon) Butts goes to (Tom) Hawkins, that's a good matchup, that works,” Cornes said.

“Tell me if Jeremy Cameron's not right now probably looking at some farming information on YouTube going, ‘Josh Worrell, Mark Keane or Max Michalanney’? I'm worried about their defence.

“I've tipped them to win tonight. At home, they're a different proposition, but there are a couple of concerns I would have thought.

“The biggest one of those is who plays on Jeremy Cameron.”

Friday’s clash between the Crows and Cats begins at 7:40 pm (AEDT) and 7:10 pm (ACDT).
