Baker given ban as MRO hands down collision verdict

2024-04-01T16:30+11:00

Liam Baker has been offered a one-game suspension for a collision in Sunday’s win that will see him miss Gather Round.

Baker was cited for a bump on Sydney’s Lewis Melican where the Tiger went back with the flight before catching the Swans defender high with his shoulder. Baker did not make a play on the footy and wasn’t in the marking contest.

Match Review Officer Michael Christian deemed it careless conduct, high impact and medium impact.

Adem Yze’s Tigers face St Kilda in Round 4 at Norwood Oval and unless Richmond can successfully argue Baker’s case at the AFL Tribunal, the 26-year-old won’t feature.

It comes with Tom Lynch and Noah Balta also ruled out following respective injury blows in Richmond’s surprise five-point win over the Swans.

Jacob Hopper (knee), Dion Prestia (hamstring), Nathan Broad (calf), Josh Gibcus (knee) and Jack Graham (quad) also missed Sunday’s win.
