“4-1 was undeserved”: England seamer Robinson's wild Indian Test series claim

2024-04-03T11:30+11:00

England bowler Ollie Robinson thinks he and his teammates were unlucky to go down 4-1 to India in the recent away Test series.

After winning the first Test by 28 runs, England would go on to lose the final four Tests by 106 runs, 434 runs, five wickets and an innings and 64 runs.

While most of those losses were comprehensive, Robinson thinks that England were in most games and close to reversing a couple of those results.

He says that the 4-1 scoreline was “undeserved” and that if things fell their way it could have been a 3-2 victory for the visitors.

"We were really close to reversing that result," Robinson told Sky Sports.

"Obviously a catch I dropped in the fourth Test would have helped us but, no, we feel like 4-1 was undeserved really.

“We played some really good cricket and maybe on another tour it could have been 3-2 to us, who knows?”

While Robinson was disappointed to lose, he was happy with the aggressive brand of cricket England continues to play under Brendon McCullum and ‘BazBall’.

Even though England are ranked third in Tests, sixth in ODIs and second in T20s, Robinson thinks that they’re very close to being the best in the world and could be on the verge of dominating international cricket.

"But the brand of cricket that we're playing is really good to watch for fans and good to play in,” Robinson said.

“I think we're really close to being the best in the world, to be honest. A few one percenters here and there and we can really dominate the world of cricket."

England faces Pakistan in a T20 series before the T20 World Cup which begins in June. Their next Test series comes at home against the West Indies in July.
