Every player graded in Collingwood's tight win over Hawthorn

2024-04-07T19:55+10:00

Collingwood have picked up their second win of the season after just edging Hawthorn in the final game of Gather Round at the Adelaide Oval.

The Magpies got off to a hot start thanks to Lachie Schultz and continued that domination in the second term to take a 38-point lead into half-time.

The Hawks came storming back in the third though and gave the Pies an almighty scare late to go down by just five points. The final score was 11.11 (77) to 11.6 (72).

The Magpies were led by their big guns on ball in Jordan De Goey, Tom Mitchell and Nick Daicos while Jeremy Howe, John Noble and Billy Frampton were strong in defence.

For the Hawks, Jai Newcombe was immense and Blake Hardwick was brilliant up forward after flipping from defence in the second half.

Collingwood next have a bye before facing Port Adelaide at the MCG where they’ll hope to even things up at 3-3. The improved Hawks next go in search of their first win of the campaign when they fly to the Gold Coast to face the Suns next Saturday night
