A six-week hamstring injury for Carlton speedster Adam Saad headlines a trio of soft tissue setbacks for the Blues after being handed their first defeat of 2024 in Round 5.
None of Saad or Mitch McGovern could finish off the game in the two-point loss, while Adam Cerra was a late withdrawal from the side to face Adelaide.
All of the trio have been ruled out of this weekend’s game against GWS, with Cerra and McGovern both set to miss 1-2 weeks with their own hamstring injuries.
But Saad’s six-week blow comes at a disastrous time for the club considering its upcoming fixture.
Carlton plays the Giants, Cats, Magpies, Demons, Swans, Suns and Port Adelaide in the next seven weeks.
Saad is averaging 17.6 disposals, 5.0 marks and 4.0 rebound 50s throughout 2024, including Saturday’s injury-affected game.
