Charlie Cameron has won his AFL Tribunal hearing for a rough conduct charge and is available to take on Geelong this weekend.
The star small forward had received a one-match ban from Match Review Officer Michael Christian for a dumping tackle on Melbourne defender Jake Lever in Round 5 during Brisbane’s impressive win.
It was graded careless conduct, medium impact and high contact. Lever did play on.
Fronting the tribunal on Tuesday night, the Lions’ legal team looked to downgrade the impact from medium to low.
The tribunal also permitted praising character references of Cameron, before ultimately contrasting the MRO’s decision. His suspension has been downgraded to a fine.
Out of form to start the season, Cameron bounced back in Round 5 to boot three goals from 17 touches while also having five inside 50s. He's now gone 207 games without a suspension.
It's an important win for the Lions, who earlier on Tuesday ruled out Zac Bailey “for 4-6 weeks” with the midfielder suffering an ankle sprain.
