Australians will be given the chance to see their six national basketball teams in action prior to the Olympics, with Victoria to host a series also featuring China and Japan.

It’s the first time in history that both the Boomers and Opals will compete in the same series, with Australian wheelchair sides the Rollers and Gliders also to feature.

Both 3x3 teams will also play games before jetting off for the Olympics.

The series will take place in early June at John Cain Cain Arena before the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.

Dubbed ‘Ballin’ 24’, the series will include 16 games, with tickets to go on sale from Tuesday, April 23.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan broke the news on SEN, telling Gerard Whateley the Olympics lead-in tournament will be a big driver for the local economy.

“We’re really excited, there’s 99 days to go until the Olympics… it’s going to be a big four days of Basketball,” she said.

“What’s also great, the ticket pricing, they’ll start at $5, so families can get along during the school holidays.

“Victoria and Melbourne is the capital of basketball in the country… the Olympic teams brings the players together and this tournament, ‘Ballin’ 24’, is going to bring them home in the leadup to the Paris Olympics.”
