2024-04-21T17:05+10:00

Round 4 of the 2024 VFL season is complete after three games took place on Sunday.

The first match of the day occurred at the SCG with the Swans and Suns meeting in a curtain-raiser ahead of the AFL clash between the two clubs at the same venue.

The match played out in a dramatic 60-60 draw with the Swans scoring two points late to tie up the match.

For Gold Coast, Rory Atkins (35 disposals), Joel Jeffrey (29 disposals), Ned Moyle (23 disposals, 34 hitouts) and Ben Long (three goals) were all impressive.

For Sydney, Angus Sheldrick had plenty of it with 30 touches and he was well-supported in the midfield by Caleb Mitchell (two goals, 25 disposals). Young forward Jacob Konstanty (three goals) was also big up forward and kicked the point to tie the game up late.

The day’s second game was held at Piranha Park with Coburg beating Collingwood 87-72.

Coburg grabbed the lead at half-time and slowly but surely pulled away from the Pies in the second half.

Joel Trudgeon (one goal, 29 disposals) was huge in the midfield for the winners while Oleg Markov (27 disposals), Jack Bytel (21 disposals) and Fin Macrae (25 disposals) all had plenty of it.

Cricket convert Wil Parker (one goal, 21 disposals) also impressed in his first game since trading the Kookaburra for the Sherrin as a Category B rookie. Mid-season draft hopeful Jack Hutchinson (two goals, five marks) also did some nice things including taking a huge hanger.

The day’s final game took place at Ikon Park with Carlton beating Port Melbourne 111-91.

For the Blues, Alex Cincotta (one goal, 20 disposals) was a standout while young forward Ashton Moir showed some good signs with three majors of his own.

Other winners in Round 4 were Frankston, Southport, GWS, Geelong, Box Hill and Footscray.
