Fraser-McGurk controversially left out of Australia’s 15-man T20 World Cup squad

In-form IPL opener Jake Fraser-McGurk has been controversially left out of Australia’s T20 World Cup squad.

The news was made official on Wednesday at midday (AEST) with 15 names picked to travel to the Caribbean in June, with Fraser-McGurk not one of them despite the youngster making three scores of 50 or more from five innings for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL.

Mitch Marsh will captain the side across the tournament, while Steve Smith has also missed out.

West Australian’s Tim David, Cameron Green, Josh Inglis, Marcus Stoinis and Ashton Agar are also big winners in the naming of the squad.

Chairman of selectors George Bailey says that Australia will monitor players ahead of the tournament and can change the squad of 15 as they see fit.

“Being constrained to a squad of 15 for World Cups is always a challenge given the different scenarios and options we'd like to cover,” Bailey said via a statement.

“We will continue monitoring several players who have missed out on this preliminary squad and note that if we wish to change this squad, we have the option to do so over the coming weeks in accordance with ICC regulations.”
