2024-05-06T11:15+10:00

David King and Gerard Whateley have named their top four seeds following Round 8 of the 2024 AFL season.

King and Whateley will each rank four teams they have the most confidence in going forward on a weekly basis throughout the year.

The seedings will be updated as the season goes on via SEN’s Whateley.

Whateley was close to putting Collingwood in his top four, while both he and King dropped Carlton out of their seeds this week.

KING

1. Sydney

“They've come in and gone bang.

“They do it differently. I've got them at one but I'm I'm almost looking at thinking they do it so differently, it'll either be boom or bust because of the profile of their team.

“I don't have Collingwood in, and I don't have Carlton in.”

2. Geelong

“The Cats are two.

“It was still a very good game. They weren't entitled to do what they did late, they still made a charge and if Jeremy Cameron kicked straight…

“I'm not slowing on them too far.”

3. Melbourne

“At three for me I've gone Melbourne.

“Melbourne were fantastic tactically on the weekend.

“Their execution of plan was terrific just to show I think a template to the competition of how to play against Geelong.

“They're in good form and playing some pretty strong footy.”

4. GWS

“I've got the Giants at four.

“Tom Green went down which shifted things and changed things.

“They've been very good and I'm forgiving that performance against a pretty good team in the Sydney Swans.

“So, they're at four for me.”

WHATELEY

1. Sydney

“The Sydney Swans (are number one).

“Fremantle at Optus for the Swans, then Carlton at the SCG - which shapes as big and then the Bulldogs at Mars before they get to their bye.

“It's in their power to hang on to the top position and the top seed over the next little bit.”

2. Geelong

“I’ve got Geelong at two as well despite a loss.”

3. GWS

4. Melbourne

“I've got Melbourne at four.

“Winner stays on between Carlton and Melbourne (on Thursday night).

“The Blues have now lost three out of four, so I've had to sit them out.”
