Coleman Medallist power ranks his top 10 AFL players ahead of Round 9

2024-05-08T08:50+10:00

Coleman Medallist Scott Cummings has ranked his top 10 players in the AFL ahead of Round 9 of the 2024 season.

Cummings releases his power rankings weekly on SEN WA Breakfast.

He has dropped one from his list this week, bringing in Fremantle's young star Caleb Serong in exchange for 2023's All-Australian captain Toby Greene who has been out of form throughout 2024.

10. Caleb Serong (Fremantle)

"He's averaging 33 (disposals), eight and a half clearances, five tackles, four inside 50s, he's elite in the competition in effective disposals but that's as far as numbers go.

"But his kicking efficiency is at just 53 per cent (which is why he's not higher than 10)."

9. Connor Rozee (Port Adelaide)

8. Errol Gulden (Sydney)

“He's dropped from seven to eight.”

7. Charlie Curnow (Carlton)

6. Zach Merrett (Essendon)

"He is just outstanding."

5. Christian Petracca (Melbourne)

4. Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs)

3. Tom Green (GWS)

"When Tom Green comes out of that side, they are all at sea."

2. Nick Daicos (Collingwood)

“He's just solifidying that I should never have slipped him down the list.”

1. Isaac Heeney (Sydney)

“Isaac Heeney stays at number one.”

Cummings also named a watch-list of players just outside the top 10 that he thinks are on the verge of jumping in.

Those names are: Max Gawn, Toby Greene, Zak Butters, Sam Taylor.
