King calls for AFL to take a stand against Thomas after fresh harassment allegations

2024-05-10T09:00+10:00

David King has called for the AFL to take a stand against Tarryn Thomas after fresh harassment allegations surfaced.

According to the Herald Sun, Thomas is being investigated by police for allegedly harassing a woman via a mobile phone.

Thomas was sacked by North Melbourne earlier this year for similar behaviour, and it’s believed that these new harassment allegations have come after his dismissal at Arden Street.

The AFL also imposed an 18-game ban on the former Roo on the same day he was sacked.

While Thomas’ AFL dream was still alive for 2025 if a club wanted to pick him up, King has called for the competition to take the 24-year-old off the table from a draft perspective.

His co-host Kane Cornes agreed on SEN Breakfast.

Cornes: “The front page of the Herald Sun has Tarryn Thomas on it again, he's being investigated by police for harassing a former partner.

“The Herald Sun understands in recent weeks that Thomas has repeatedly called an estranged girlfriend allegedly multiple times during the day and night and it is believed that the calls were made after Thomas was cut by the Kangaroos and handed an 18-match suspension by the AFL after conduct breaches including threatening the same woman.”

King: “The AFL needs to take a stand there, don't they?”

Cornes: “They have to now.”

King: “They've got to take him off the table from a draftable perspective.”

Cornes: “That needs to happen reasonably urgently I would have thought now.”

An email that was leaked earlier this week from North Melbourne chief executive Jennifer Watt said that Thomas failed to show any “sufficient progress” in mandatory behavioural training.
