Roosters beat Panthers to Fifita’s signature

2024-05-09T16:58+10:00

The Sydney Roosters have pulled off one of the biggest signings in recent history, securing the services of David Fifita from 2025 onwards.

Fifita, who informed the Titans on Thursday morning of his desire to leave the club at the end of the season, has knocked back a big offer from the Penrith Panthers to sign with the Roosters, according to The Sydney Morning Herald’s Michael Chammas.

The deal for Fifita is worth $3.3 million over four years, averaging out $825k per season. The Panthers’ offer reportedly came in just below $850k per season but was only across three years.

Prior to the announcement of Fifita signing for the Bondi-based side, Roosters’ lock Victor Radley didn’t hide his hope of the club securing the Maroons’ backrower.

“We’d take him, he’s an exceptional player, a beast,” Radley told SEN.com.au.

“You want as many good players in your team as possible and he’s one of them, I hope we get him.”

Fifita will depart the Titans at the end of the season, likely alongside his partner and NRLW star Shaylee Bent.
