Back for another year, the SEN.com.au team gives you an insight into how every game will play out across the weekend.
Labelling something a ‘certainty’ in any sport is fraught with danger.
But we’ll attempt to find some anyway.
Here is what we consider certainties for the Round 9 Friday night games between Geelong and Port Adelaide as well as Fremantle versus Sydney.
Henry to kick 2+ goals
The former Magpie is yet to go goalless in 2024 and has improved every facet of his game this season.
Ollie Henry has kicked multiple goals against the top teams he’s played this year, a bill the Power certainly fits.
A likely matchup against Aliir Aliir looms and Henry would expect to capitalise both on the ground and in the air.
Lock him in to find two ways home to goal.
Butters to collect 25+ possessions
Expect Port Adelaide superstar Zak Butters to stuff the stats sheet against Geelong.
A midfielder that’s difficult to tag given his versatility and agility, he comes up against a primary Cats midfield of Cameron Guthrie, Brandan Parfitt and Mark Blicavs on Friday night.
Ken Hinkley’s Port Adelaide are among the better teams in the competition for uncontested possession differential, and few in the comp work harder than Butters.
He collected 30 possessions last time he played Geelong at Kardinia Park, is averaging 28.5 disposals a game this year and should collect more of the footy with Connor Rozee missing.

Serong 30+ disposals
You can just about lock this one in every week.
The AFL’s leading disposal winner in 2024 is averaging a whopping 33 touches a game this season.
In his last two games, the star midfielder has picked up 37 and 38 touches.
While he’ll be up against a quality Sydney midfield, Serong has picked up 30+ the last two times he’s faced the Swans.
He should reach that number again.
Hayward 2+ goals
Sydney’s Will Hayward is finding some nice form at the right time as his free agency decision looms.
The Swan kicked four in last Saturday’s win over GWS and has kicked multiple majors in five of his last six games.
While Fremantle have some awesome key defenders, they might struggle to find an ideal matchup for Hayward.
As a result, he’ll get a couple of opportunities at goal and should finish at least two.
