Rounds 16-23 have been revealed – and there’s plenty to dissect.
Brad Scott’s impressive Bombers have been rewarded, while Collingwood are given a blessed run home in Craig McRae’s hopes of going back-to-back.
But there are plenty of clubs who miss out, with the fixture rewarding the best teams through the opening 10 weeks of 2024. Here’s what you need to know for your club.

Win: The Crows play three times on Saturday night and take centre stage of Friday night footy against Essendon in Round 19.
Loss: Three Sunday twilight games aren’t ideal, although two are at home and Adelaide would expect decent crowds.
Seb Mottram

Win: The QClash lands on the Saturday twilight slot, with the Lions also hosting Melbourne in Round 16’s Friday night headliner.
Loss: A six-day break between their match with Sydney and the QClash may prove influential, alongside three Sunday afternoon games.
Jaiden Sciberras

Win: Quietly, would Carlton fans be happy that their team only features in primetime twice? The Blues have been thrust into the spotlight almost every week through the first 10 rounds. It can get a bit exhausting.
Loss: The AFL in their wisdom have ditched Thursday night footy, but Carlton still somehow has a five-day break? The Blues play North Melbourne on Sunday twilight in Round 19 before hosting Port Adelaide on Friday night in Round 20.
Nic Negrepontis

Win: A trio of Friday night blockbusters against Essendon, Geelong and Sydney. Six matches at the MCG - yes please from Pies fans!
Loss: They have to play the Swans at the SCG in Round 22. They lost there twice in 2022, including the Prelim.
Andrew Slevison

Win: Three Friday night games, the Bombers couldn’t be happier with this fixture offering. No five-day breaks, either.
Loss: It's very hard to point to any negatives. Perhaps the fact that they’re the home side on only one of the Friday night games?
Seb Mottram

Win: Saturday night Derby in front of their home crowd plus an MCG fixture for Victorian based fans.
Loss: Three Saturday afternoon games away from home against Sydney, Hawthorn and GWS.
Hugh Fitzpatrick

Win: The Cats don’t have to play once on Sunday and only have one six-day break.
Loss: Only one Friday night, which is Collingwood’s home game, isn’t a fair reflection of Geelong’s start to 2024.
Seb Mottram

Win: The Suns are set to take on both Collingwood and Brisbane at Heritage Bank Stadium in the Saturday twilight slot.
Loss: Not a whole lot to see here. All of their games are off free-to-air (for Melbourne audiences), with six of their eight fixtures landing on a Saturday.
Jaiden Sciberras

Win: Some MCG exposure is nice. The Giants only play there once this year and it comes in Round 20 against Melbourne.
Loss: No Friday nights. The Giants have been one of the standout teams of the first dozen weeks of the season, yet find themselves shunned from the primetime stage. Another big reason why Thursday night footy should be every week.
Nic Negrepontis

Win: Two uninterrupted games at the MCG in Rounds 22 and 23 against Carlton and Richmond should see big crowds for the Hawks late in the season.
Loss: Hawthorn will have only one game on free-to-air TV in this stretch. An early Saturday afternoon game in Tassie against Fremantle in Round 18 is dire enough, and it comes up at the same time as Sydney and North Melbourne.
Seb Mottram

Win: Playing unattractive footy and still gaining two more Friday night games? That’s a win!
Loss: An away trip to Fremantle with a six-day break into the Giants at home to follow. Will be tough on the bodies of the older players... which is most of the team's best 23.
Zac Sharpe

Win: North fans who pay for Kayo will be getting their money’s worth with only one game on free-to-air.
Loss: Not one prime time slot, hope North fans love Saturday and Sunday afternoon games.
Hugh Fitzpatrick

Win: The Power get their go on the Friday night stage in Round 20, taking on the Blues.
Loss: Quality games out of the spotlight is the issue for the Power. Port Adelaide plays two Saturday night games against Adelaide and Sydney respectively, both of which are off free to air and clashing with Carlton/Collingwood and St Kilda/Geelong. This makes absolutely no sense.
Nic Negrepontis

Win: Richmond gets to play five times at the ‘G in the last two months of the season.
Loss: Five Sunday games (and maybe even six). The Tigers are well and truly off broadway now. A ‘home’ game at Marvel in Round 22 - they hate going there.
Andrew Slevison

Win: Only play outside of Victoria once against Adelaide.
Loss: St Kilda’s poor start to the year has seen them dealt with four Sunday fixtures to round out the season.
Hugh Fitzpatrick

Win: A handful of games at the SCG, two on Friday night and two on Saturday afternoon. No back-to-back away trips.
Loss: They have to play three potential finals sides away from home - Brisbane, Port Adelaide and Essendon.
Andrew Slevison

Win: A Friday night game at home is a reward for the improvement the Eagles have shown so far this year.
Loss: From the highs of a Friday night game at home, to the lows of an unattractive game in Tassie on a Saturday afternoon to back it up. It’ll be a long flight home if they lose it as well.
Zac Sharpe

Win: Three Channel Seven games including a Friday night game at home.
Loss: They’ve only got one standalone game where there isn’t a clash in fixtures, truly mind boggling from the AFL.
