Every club who has played Fremantle in season 2024 has lost its next match.
From Round 1 against Brisbane to Round 8 against Richmond, and every other game in between, Freo’s opponent has then been beaten the next time they played, regardless of the previous result or the venue.
The only outlier has been when the Lions had a bye in Round 2 before losing to Collingwood in Round 3.
The Dockers went down to Sydney in Perth in Round 9. So will the Fremantle ‘curse’ come to haunt the ladder-leading Swans in Round 10?
John Longmire’s side hosts Carlton at the SCG on Friday night. Will they succumb and be the ninth team to fall after facing Freo? Or will they buck the trend, win a sixth game in a row and keep their grip on top spot?
Whether Justin Longmuir is even aware that he has concocted this or not, it has left a trail of destruction in its wake.
