Cornes and King pick their top 10 players in an open AFL draft

2024-05-24T10:32+10:00

Which AFL players would you pick in an open AFL draft?

Kane Cornes wrote a column for The Age regarding the “ultimate AFL super draft” and what would happen if each club hypothetically had access to any player that they wanted.

Cornes factored in such things as a player’s age, how long they’ve got left in the game, their leadership credentials and how you would go about setting up your club around them based on those elements.

See Cornes and SEN Breakfast co-host David King’s Top 10 lists below:

Kane Cornes’ list

“My cut-off was about 25. Sam Taylor was the oldest on my list,” Cornes said on SEN Breakfast.

“It’s an interesting exercise. It just goes to show that we’re absolutely stacked (with talent).”

David King’s list

(Not in order)

“I’ve got experience in there because they’re going to play for a long time,” said King.

“I flirted with the idea of a ruckman. I think we should have been forced to put a ruckman in.

“I flirted with the idea of: out Sam Walsh, in Luke Jackson - because I just think he could be the wildcard ruckman of the comp.”

1 - Marcus Bontempelli (WB)
2 - Christian Petracca (MEL)
3 - Nick Daicos (COL)
4 - Charlie Curnow (CAR)
5 - Sam Taylor (GWS)
