“He’s in the box seat”: Will Mitchell play Game II for Blues?

2024-06-10T11:37+10:00

SEN’s Scott Sattler believes Latrell Mitchell is firming as the player NSW Origin coach Michael Maguire needs for State of Origin Game II.

The Souths superstar dominated against Gold Coast on Saturday, putting forward an impressive audition to play for the Blues.

Given the Blues need to win to keep the series alive, Sattler suggested if he was in the NSW camp, he’d be giving Mitchell a call-up.

“Records tell you if you win Game I, 75 per cent of the time you win the series,” he said on SENQ Breakfast.

“I think they need a big game player, I hope they don’t pick him, to be honest.

“I was there on Saturday, he looked fit and lead and engaged and he really dominated that game… with Joseph Suaalii being out and Stephen Crichton having the ability to play either side, I think he’s in the box seat at the moment because Michael Maguire needs X-Factor.”
