Channel Nine’s Tom Morris has given a trade and free agency update on a few names that could be on the move this off-season.
Joining Kane Cornes and Nathan Buckley on SEN Breakfast, Morris spoke about West Coast duo Liam Duggan and Tom Barrass, unrestricted free agents Harry Perryman and Josh Battle as well as Western Bulldogs ruckman Tim English.
Morris’ update also included Caleb Daniel, who could be on the way out from the Bulldogs despite having two years remaining on his deal.
Check out his update below.
Liam Duggan (West Coast)
“I think he's going to stay. He's a free agent. It's just how long the deal is.
I think it's going to be four years. He's renovating his house in Perth, he’s settled, he’s fiercely loyal.
“He's going to sign, it’s just a matter of how long - four years is most likely.”
Tom Barrass (West Coast)
“Tom Barrass is genuinely weighing up what he wants to do.
“I think this is flipping and flopping.
“The Adam Simpson departure I think increases the chances that he stays.
“It's just a waiting game at the moment. Of course, West Coast can hold on to him - he’s got three years remaining on a deal.
“But my understanding is the Dogs would be willing to offer at least two more seasons on top of that.
“So five years for a player who turns 29 soon and as a flow on, it'll be interesting to see how this affects Rory Lobb as well.
“It's just whether he wants to go there and whether West Coast could facilitate that.”
Harry Perryman (GWS)
“This is like one of those auctions where everyone has a price but then they think, ‘Oh, yeah, we'll just go one more’.
“It's become a bidding war in many ways, but I don't think the Giants are gonna get sucked into it.
“It's more other clubs like Hawthorn, Port Adelaide. His value is increasing all the time.
“The Giants are now at six years. Port and the Hawks are the main others and I wouldn’t count out the Swans.
“Cal Twomey reported that there is a club at seven years for him, that is correct.
“He's an unrestricted free agent, so this will play out over the next couple of months.”
Josh Battle (St Kilda)
“Speaking of large deals, Josh Battle, he’s an unrestricted free agent … the Hawks are well and truly into this.
“My understanding is that if he leaves or even stays probably that he is set for a pay rise of around $500,000. He’s on $400,000 this year. He has been offered around $900,000 this year.
“As you know, Sam Mitchell himself is well and truly into him.”
Tim English (Western Bulldogs)
“Tim English is the other one.
“Rivals believe this deal at West Coast is six years and not as lucrative financially as it once was.
“The Dogs have five on the table. That's where it's at and I don't think the Dogs are going to shift too much given Luke Beverage's views on ruckmen.
“He can leave if he wants and I think that looks more likely now than staying.”
