Port Adelaide wingman Miles Bergman admits that the lure of coming home to Victoria is always a temptation.
The 22-year-old, who hails from bayside Melbourne and played underage footy for the Sandringham Dragons, is signed until the end of the 2025 season after turning his back on Victorian interest last season to extend with the Power.
Although the former first-round pick is loving his time at Port Adelaide and loves the club, he did say that the pull from Victoria will always be there.
He spoke about that reality but also reiterated that he is very comfortable at Alberton when asked about his future by SEN SA The Run Home host Kym Dillon.
“Yeah, obviously I signed the two years last year,” Bergman told SEN SA The Run Home.
“Obviously, it was a big decision and I love the club and where we're going, so I decided to stay.
“At the moment, I'm really enjoying it as well. There's no obviously correct answer and home is always a temptation, but at the moment, I love it here.
“All of the boys are so good, and I feel at home.”
In response to Bergman’s honest answer, two-time Adelaide premiership skipper Mark Bickley predicted that the 76-gamer will eventually explore the option to play for a Melbourne-based club.
“My ears pricked up when I did hear that,” Bickley told SEN SA Breakfast.
“He said at the moment, at least twice. ‘At the moment I'm happy here’ and ‘At the moment’, he loves it, you know?
“So, I praise him for being open and honest. He certainly didn't just give the straight bat. That was quite an honest response.
“But the sound of that is that the lure of home is always there and at some stage, you would think he is going to explore that option.”
St Kilda and Collingwood were among the teams reportedly interested in his services before he re-signed in June 2023.
