Dean Watling is very keen to follow Renosu out of this week’s New South Wales trials.

The James Cummings-trained galloper has taken Watling by surprise in terms of how he’s returned off the back of a poor autumn campaign and the trial watcher is keen to be with him this spring.

Unsure about where the Godolphin stable will kick-off his spring campaign, Watling says punters should be buoyed by his two pieces of work and look to back him early on in his preparation from a price sense.

“I tend to fall in love with one or two horses from the trials and Renosu is one of them this time around,” Watling told SENTrack.

“He is top of the charts, I haven’t been much of a fan of him for majority of his career but the way he’s come back this time in off a poor preparation last autumn I love.

“I just love the way he’s going about his work, he’s got a really nice action about him at the moment, the times of his trials are really, really quick as he’s sort of putting horses behind him off the bit while he’s just travelling on the bridle.

“He’s come back in phenomenal form, I love the set up here in a betting sense as he’s coming off a poor preparation last time in so we might get a price about him first-up and we know the strike rate the James Cummings stable have fresh.

“He was great.”

Young gun Zac Lloyd has ridden Renosu in both trials and they've been on both good and soft ground.
