The five teams under the most pressure heading into Round 24

SEN’s Dwayne Russell has named the five teams under the most pressure heading into Round 24.

Russell’s pressure meter ranks teams from 1-5, with number one having the most pressure on them and the most to lose heading into the round.

1. Carlton                 vs St Kilda – Marvel Stadium – Sunday

“My number one on the pressure meter is Carlton,” Russell said on SEN Afternoons.

“They were expected to not only make the finals but finish top four this year and possibly win the flag.

“It would be a massive failure if they missed the eight completely.

“The Blues just need to win against a team that is outside the top eight this week. They’re playing for pride only St Kilda, it's not as if they're heading to the Gabba to play the Lions.

“They’ve got to get this one done to make sure they make the eight.”

2. Western Bulldogs           vs GWS – Mars Stadium – Sunday

"I've got the Bulldogs at two, they need to win to be sure of making the eight.

“More importantly in a way, if they win, they get a home final from fifth or sixth.

“The Bulldogs are a chance to win the flag from fifth or sixth, it’s going to be tougher from seventh or eighth if they have to make an away trip to somewhere like Brisbane who are a chance to finish fifth.

“If the Bulldogs win this game, they make sure they make the eight and get a home final as opposed to maybe having to play the Lions at the Gabba.”

3. Port Adelaide         vs Fremantle – Optus Stadium – Sunday

“I've got Port Adelaide at three, they need to win to keep second spot.

“I’ve said this for weeks, this is Port Adelaide’s, Ken Hinkley, Travis Boak and Ollie Wines’ career-defining moment.

“Port can win the flag this year from second, but I'm not sure they can win it from third.

“That's why Port Adelaide for me is three on the pressure meter.”

4. Fremantle          vs Port Adelaide – Optus Stadium – Sunday

“I've got Fremantle at four.

“Presuming that last game will be a live game for Fremantle.

“There’s a big difference on your resume for Justin Longmuir and these Fremantle players whether you make the finals or not.

“So, I've got Fremantle at four presuming that game is still going to be live.”

5. Brisbane               vs Essendon – Gabba – Saturday night

“I've got the Lions at five.

“The Lions can miss the top four or finish seventh if they lose. There's a lot on the line for the Lions.

“Don't blow it again. There are a lot of people that tipped the Lions, including me, to win the flag.

“This is huge for Brisbane.”
