Rosehill Gardens R9 (LEG 8) - #16 THUNDERLIPS
He was good first-up with the wide draw a major hindrance. He covered extra ground early before being snagged back for cover, like the way he closed to clock the sixth-best last 400m of the meeting. He improved sharply second-up last preparation and I expect him to land right behind the lead speed from the low to middle draw. Hard to hold out at double-figure odds.

Caulfield R9 (LEG 9) - #5 PINSTRIPED
He did enough first-up from 154-days between runs. He got into a bit of a bumping dual with Jimmy The Bear which didn’t help his chance. He can come on from that and maps to get the right run behind the lead speed. If you’re looking outside of Pride Of Jenni and Mr Brightside, this bloke could be the one to blouse them late.

Caulfield R8 (LEG 7) - #11 SAINT GEORGE
This is as speculative as it gets, but I just can't let this bloke go around without having something on, so I'll be including him in my UPC Showdown at big odds. He was touted as Ciaron Maher's #1 Melbourne Cup seed 12 months ago, but he had a setback and missed the spring. His best form is over a fair bit further than this, but the 1700m is a nice starting point for him, he draws low and gets Jamie Kah in the saddle. I'm sure he has bigger fish to fry this spring, but I expect him to run well first-up on Saturday.

Caulfield R9 (LEG 9) - #1 MR BRIGHTSIDE
He's not the same horse he was 12 months ago, but he's still first-class, and I think if they want to win a Group 1 with him this spring, it has to be on Saturday. He had Pride Of Jenni's measure - only just - first-up in the autumn at this track and trip in the CF Orr, and given he's had two good hit outs in preparation for this and skipped the PB Lawrence, I'm expecting him to be screwed right down for this race.
