V/AFL legend Malcolm Blight has named his top three coaches for the 2024 home and away season.

The two-time Adelaide premiership coach, who also coached Geelong to two Grand Finals, along with co-host David Wildy, revealed their top three coaches of 2024 on SEN's Sportsday SA.

They have selected their top on a 3-2-1 votes basis.

Blight's top 3

3 votes - John Longmire (Sydney)

“The team that nobody picked anywhere near the top of the ladder, the Sydney Football club and therefore John Longmire gets my three votes.”

2 votes - Ken Hinkley (Port Adelaide)

“To get that team back to second to give them another chance, he’s in the votes.”

1 vote - Sam Mitchell (Hawthorn)

“With their climb up the ladder, you tend to favour those teams a bit.”

Wildy's top 3

3 votes - Sam Mitchell (Hawthorn)

“I think Sam Mitchell has to be the coach of the year, they started 0-5 and won 12 of their last 14 games, and one of the games they lost was against Port Adelaide after being up seven goals.

“I think he’s coach of the year for me.”

2 votes - Ken Hinkley (Port Adelaide)

“Because I had Port Adelaide finishing around 7th and I think to finish second and bearing in mind some people wanted him sacked.”

1 vote - Chris Scott (Geelong)

“Because I did not have them in my top eight.”
