Caulfield 9 (LEG 11) - #3 EPIMELES
He had been ultra-impressive in his first two starts when winning and then simply had no luck first-up at The Valley. He drew the inside alley, ended up last on the fence and nearly fell on the corner due to restricted running room. He warmed up late over 1200m, and now finds a wide gate, a bigger track and steps up to 1400m which suits. He can bounce back and get his Caulfield Guineas prospects back on track.
Randwick R9 (LEG 9) - #3 STEFI MAGNETICA
The Stradbroke winner is back! The Bjorn Baker-trained now-mare gave gun apprentice Zac Lloyd his maiden Group 1 victory in Queensland's premier race three months ago, and now she can lock in a slot in The Everest, following last year's Stradbroke winner Think About It. Stefi Magnetica trialled brilliantly last week and appears to have come back a better horse this time in. First-up in the winter, she was in the worst part of the track and produced one of the runs of the race in the Doomben 10,000 behind I Wish I Win and Bella Nipotina. If she brings that form, she can win this first-up at good odds.
Randwick R7 (LEG 5) - #3 ERNO’S CUBE
She had the outside draw against first-up from 133-days between runs when she was snagged back to last. She warmed up late to clock the best last 800m, 600m and 400m of the race (second best last 200m). She can settle much closer to the lead speed here from the low draw and the extra trip should suit. There is not much between these fillies and double-figure odds represents good value with her.
Caulfield R8 (LEG 8) - #13 COCO SUN
Lovely return from the South Australian Derby winner (beating Warmonger) when she settled too far back with the tempo of the race against. She warmed up late to clock the fourth-best last 200m of the meeting. She can settle much closer to the lead speed here from the better draw, the extra trip suits, and Jamie Kah gets back in the saddle.
