North Melbourne’s young star Harry Sheezel has expressed his excitement over the prospect of playing alongside veteran Jack Darling.

The 32-year-old Eagle has announced his desire to join Sheezel at the Kangaroos, as he looks set to play out the last year of his lucrative deal at Arden Street.

After 298 games with West Coast, Darling will bring a much-needed sense of experience to the young Roos, while Sheezel also anticipates the forward still has plenty to offer at AFL level.

“Hopefully we can get that (deal) done,” Sheezel told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.

“He came in for a medical at the club the other day and a few boys caught up with him, I was actually meant to catch up with him, but I think they changed the address of the lunch because some people found out where it was going to be.

“It would be great to get Jack in for, not only his experience but I think he has got a lot to offer our team still.

“Hopefully he’s got a few more years left in him.

“He is really excited by the opportunity to move down to Melbourne, and really reinvigorate his career, not that he was not playing well.

“He is an unbelievable player, so experienced, 298 games is an incredible achievement and hopefully he can play a few more good ones for the Kangas.”

Darling averaged 10 touches and a goal in his 21 appearances out west in 2024, as he seeks a fresh start to his illustrious career.
