The AFL trade period is around the corner and nearly 20 players are already on the move.

Numerous players have already put their hands up, be it as a trade or in free agency.

Where do they sit? We’ve gone through each player who has requested a trade or indicated their desire to utilise free agency.

This won’t include the likes of Jake Stringer, James Peatling or Matt Owies – players linked to moves are yet to officially express their desire to leave their clubs.

Dan Houston (Port Adelaide)

Has told Port Adelaide he wants to be traded to a Victorian club, with Carlton and North Melbourne seen as the frontrunners. He has also met with Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs.

He is contracted with Port Adelaide until the end of 2027 and has stated he is happy to return to the club if a trade falls through.

Jack Darling (West Coast)

Has officially requested a trade to North Melbourne. Will leave with West Coast’s blessing and will seemingly sign a two-year deal.

Jack Lukosius (Gold Coast)

Has requested a trade to Port Adelaide, with the Power beating out Adelaide in the race for his services.

He is contracted to Gold Coast for 2026, though they seem to be equally keen for him to find a new home.

Isaac Cumming (GWS)

Has officially nominated Adelaide as his club of choice. Will join them as a free agent.

Harry Perryman is not on this list given, as of right now, he has not publicly requested a trade. Same with James Peatling.

Liam Baker (Richmond)

Yet to nominate Fremantle or West Coast, but will be leaving Richmond. Will need to be traded as he is not a free agent.

Shai Bolton (Richmond)

Another Tiger who has requested a trade home to Western Australia. He has been strongly linked to Fremantle, but has not yet actually named his preferred destination.

Contracted through to the end of 2028.

Daniel Rioli (Richmond)

Has requested a trade out of Richmond with the aim of reuniting with Damien Hardwick on the Gold Coast.

Is contracted to the Tigers until the end of 2027.

Jack Graham (Richmond)

Has reportedly received a four-year offer from West Coast, but the Tigers believe they can still talk him out of leaving and have made him an offer.

Bailey Smith (Western Bulldogs)

Been out the door at the Western Bulldogs for a year now. Has officially requested a trade, with Geelong the expected landing spot. However, he did not name a preferred destination.

Josh Battle (St Kilda)

Will leave St Kilda as a free agent and will join Hawthorn.

Jack Macrae (Western Bulldogs)

Has told the Bulldogs he wants out and has requested a trade to St Kilda. Clearly wants greater midfield opportunity after being pushed to the outer in recent years.

Is contracted with the Dogs until the end of 2027.

Ivan Soldo (Port Adelaide)

After just one year at Port Adelaide, Soldo wishes to return to Victoria and has requested a trade.

St Kilda is seen as the likely landing spot, though he did not name a preferred destination.

Contracted for 2025 at Port Adelaide.

John Noble (Collingwood)

The Collingwood defender has requested a trade to Gold Coast. Is contracted to the Pies until the end of 2026.

Alex Neal-Bullen (Melbourne)

Will join Adelaide in the trade period, requesting a trade for family reasons.

Contracted with Melbourne until the end of 2026.

Tom Barrass (West Coast)

Contracted with West Coast until the end of 2027, but has requested a trade out of the club and has nominated Hawthorn as his club of choice.

Nick Haynes (GWS)

An unrestricted free agent and has told the Giants he is out. Strongly linked with a move to Carlton.

Wade Derksen (GWS)

A 2022 mid-season draft recruit by the Giants, but yet to debut and is contracted for 2025.

Has requested a trade to the Melbourne Football Club.
