After captaining the Melbourne Storm to the Grand Final, Harry Grant is in contention for the Clive Churchill medal, with Storm Chairman, Matt Tripp claiming he hopes to see the star hooker made a Storm player for life.

“I want Harry to finish his career at the Storm,” Tripp said on The Run Home with Joel & Fletch.

“What he has done this year since he’s been made captain has been remarkable.”

Grant was brought up through the Storm’s junior pathways and aside from a season loan to the West Tigers in 2020, has maintained a career with Melbourne since 2018.

Tripp is confident the captain will see his contract roll through to 2026, hopeful to see him continue his career out as long as possible with the side.
“He is a priority of mine, I don’t think he is going anywhere,” he added.

“He’s got an option in his favour to play in 2026 and I’m pretty confident that will happen and then beyond that we’ve got a bit of time to make sure he is a Melbourne player for life.”

Tripp also looks ahead to Sundays Grand Final expecting to see a close match but believes the Storm can pull through if they play at their best.

“I think it’s the best toss of a coin game you’ll ever see,” he said.

“I think our key spine players are hitting their straps at the right time so if they put their best foot forward and play well, they have a lot of points in them.”

Melbourne will face off against Penrith on Sunday night in what Tripp ensures will excite any NRL fan.
