The burning questions ahead of the 2024 NRL Grand Final

Matt Russell joined Breakfast with Vossy & Brandy to discuss their Grand Final predictions ahead of Sunday night’s Melbourne vs Penrith decider.

Andrew Voss predicts seeing a similar result to the last time the teams faced off in a Grand final, expecting to see the Storm take it out with a scoreline of 22-12.

Russell shared a similar sentiment, expressing the Panthers’ steak must come to an end some time, the panel believing the Dragons 11 straight premiership record will not be broken in their lifetime.

The panel then discussed the ‘unsung heroes’ of the grand final line up, to which Voss brought up Trent Loiero, Shawn Blore and Eli Katoa, who have made their mark this season and expects to see a lot more of in 2025.

“Melbourne has got a pack of Craig Bellamy disciples, and they will do the job for their coach,” Voss said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

Russell echoed with Panthers like Luke Garner and Paul Alamoti who he predicts will make a real impact on Sunday.

Voss also predicts that departing Panthers, Fisher-Harris, Turuva and Luai will make their impact in their final game, by marking a combined 385 run metres.

Following on from a series of opening tackle set errors during the finals series, the panel also encouraged teams to act conservatively.

Voss suggested teams kick lightly and avoid “hammering at the back fence”, to allow both sides to start the game strong.

“Pull it back and make the tackle…care ahead of impact,” he added.

Russell and Voss prepare for an exciting Grand Final Sunday and end to a thrilling 2024 season.
