The Group 1 Turnbull Stakes will be run over 2000m at Flemington on Saturday.

Gold Trip won the race last year, joining stablemate Smokin' Romans, Incentivise, Verry Elleegant, Kings Will Dream and Winx (twice) as recent winners.

Read our analysis of the race below:

Buckaroo was dominant in winning the Underwood Stakes at Caulfield on September 21.

Joao Moreira partnered the Chris Waller-trained gelding to a 3.5-length romp over what many consider an inferior Group 1 field.

But there’s no denying the style in which he won, making it two on the trot and giving him favouritism for the Turnbull.

It’s hard not to tip him due to the form he’s in right now.

There’s not much between Eliyass and Via Sistina.

Eliyass has a heavy track win and three soft tracks wins to his name which is handy given the expected rain in Melbourne (provided it actually does affect the surface).

Via Sistina was only fair on a heavy track in the Makybe Diva, but does have decent form on soft tracks.

Atishu represents nice value at around $12 and could improve. A nice each-way play if you cannot decide between the top three in the market.

Selections

3 - Buckaroo
6 - Eliyass
4 - Via Sistina
7 - Atishu
