Josh Jenkins has outlined Carlton’s biggest hits and misses from the last five years of drafting and recruiting players.

The former Adelaide Crows forward will assess each of the 18 clubs on AFL Trade Radio and provide what he believes have been the hits and misses when it comes to player acquisition over the last half decade.

Read his thoughts on the Blues below:

Carlton hits

“Their big hit for mine is Blake Acres,” Jenkins told The Late Trade.

“They just identified a player who can fill a role and play a role.

“They put his magnet up on the wing every week and don’t have to worry too much about his performance. He's going to be between a 6/10 and an 8/10 almost every week.

“Only having to give up a round-three pick for him I think is a really nice piece of recruiting.”

Carlton misses

“The big miss at the moment, it has to be that Adam Cerra deal for pick six,” Jenkins added.

“It slid back a couple of positions and became Jye Amiss.

“You can say, ‘Well, they don't need Jye Amiss because they've got two other great forwards’, but there are a lot of other players that they could have grabbed with that selection, and I like Cerra and I think he's played some good footy.

“Putting aside the hamstring issues that he's had, at the moment it just hasn't quite worked out for him or for them when it, when you weigh up the player versus the pick.”
