Josh Jenkins has outlined the GWS’ biggest hits and misses from the last five years of drafting and recruiting players.

The former Adelaide Crows forward will assess each of the 18 clubs on AFL Trade Radio and provide what he believes have been the hits and misses when it comes to player acquisition over the last half decade.

Read his thoughts on the Giants below:

GWS hits

“The big hit of course is Jesse Hogan for Pick 54 straight up,” Jenkins told The Late Trade.

“That is an unbelievable result for the footy club.

“We know about the career of Jesse and the ups and downs, but securing Jesse Hogan, the reigning Coleman medallist and All-Australian for pick 54 is perhaps the steal of the decade.

“The second steal of the decade is Toby Bedford for Pick 44 from the Melbourne Football Club.

“Those two trades have been great for them.”

GWS misses

“The big miss is that the most notable free agent acquisition for them has been Dawson Simpson,” Jenkins added.

“That leads to a larger conversation about, are they perhaps the most disadvantaged club when it comes to free agency? They have just not been able to land players.

“We know we've had a lot of talent leave the footy club and a lot of salary cap issues, but they’ve absolutely played no part in free agency at all.”
