“Ridiculous price”: Once-boom Chris Waller colt over the odds at Rosehill

Leading form analyst Mick Gannon expects Switzerland to bounce back at Rosehill on Saturday.

The boom colt was ridden poorly first-up when finishing last in the Run To The Rose but Gannon expects the Chris Waller-trained colt to turn it around on the weekend in the Roman Consul Stakes.

With Nash Rawiller replacing James McDonald in the saddle, Gannon believes they’ll ride the horse a lot more conservatively and bring it to the outside at the top of the straight for one final crack at them over the 1200m trip.

And at $6.50, he’s very keen to have a bet.

“I think it’s all about Switzerland in this race,” Gannon told SENTrack.

“He’s a horse that we were pretty confident would come back bigger, better and stronger as a three-year-old colt this time in.

“He was slaughtered unfortunately first-up and I don’t think you’ll see the same ride this time, they’ll be a lot further back and I think Nash Rawiller will be conservative, peel off and go bang.

“I think it’s a ridiculous price and it wouldn’t surprise me if it starts with a $4 in front of it as I think the big punters will step in and be forgiving.

“I think Perspiration could be the best horse going forward out of this race but I’m not too sure about it on a good four and I’d love them to save it for a another rain-effected track but I think Switzerland is clearly on top.”

The once Golden Slipper favourite won his first three career race starts and is yet to win in his last two runs albeit in big races.

He’s yet to win at Rosehill from two starts.
