SENTrack: Chris Nelson's best bets at Eagle Farm, Gold Coast & Randwick (19/10)

Racing in Brisbane this afternoon comes from Eagle Farm where we have 10 races to get through on a good (4) rated track. We could see thunderstorms this morning right through to the afternoon/evening however there’s always the chance of nothing as well…! A maximum of 33 degrees has been forecast. First race gets underway at 11.38am QLD time which is an hour later for those in the daylight savings states.

RACE 8 # 3 ESTRONDO

Lightly raced galloper from the Heathcote yard who looked extremely unlucky not to win at Doomben last start. He settled back in the field due to the wide gate then had to weave his way down the straight in restricted room making ground right to the line. The official margin was 0.7L, arguably he wins the race with even luck. 1400m ideal, should be winning.

RACE 3 # 16 DROP THE MIC

Ran some nice races last prep including a third behind the well performed Punch Lane (recently placed at Group 2 level) back in July. Thought he should have finished closer here last start when not having the clearest of runs hard up against the inside rail. He’s down 4kg in the weights & a rough result here wouldn’t surprise. Well worth a play at good odds.

RACE 9 # 15 NEW JOY

Liked her closing effort at Ipswich two back before being held up at Doomben last outing between the 200 & 100m, once into the clear she closed off well. She’s really looking for the longer trip which she gets this afternoon & Angela Jones is down to do the steering.

RACE 10 # 13 POSEIDON RULER

Only won 4 of 40 starts however his form of late suggests he’s ready to break through & likely at good odds. Three back he closed well at 1200m, last start he zipped home late over 1400m, the run in between he was beaten a long way however played up at the gates & was passed fit to run, clearly that shouldn’t have been the case. Look for him late.
