Nic Ashman’s $34 each-way play for the Bendigo Cup

Form analyst Nic Ashman has identified a horse at massive odds in today’s Bendigo Cup (2400m).

Knight’s Choice for John Symons and Sheila Laxon finally strikes a dry track and from barrier 1 can sit near the speed.

Ashman feels that the recent company Knight’s Choice has kept in big Group 1 races gives him some sort of chance at Group 3 level at Bendigo.

“In the Cup itself I’m having something each-way on Knight’s Choice,” Ashman said on SENTrack’s Giddy Up.

“I go back to that run when he was second to Fawkner Park in the Brisbane winter. It was one of the last times he struck a dry track at the distance.

“The rating from that race was good, it was so good that Fawkner Park ended up being one of the favourites for a Caulfield Cup.

“His past two runs have been in the Turnbull against Via Sistina on a soft 7 and then in the Caulfield Cup against Duke De Sessa and Buckaroo on a soft 6.

“This is a far easier race than that and you’re getting around $34-35 for him. I think Knight’s Choice is worthy of an each-way gamble. He’ll get a suck run in transit, there doesn’t seem to be an abundance of pace.

“The horse from the inside gate probably gets the opportunity to be where he wants to be without spending too much petrol.”

Knight’s Choice, who will be ridden by Robbie Dolan, is currently priced at $34 with Sportsbet for the Bendigo Cup which jumps at 4:10pm AEDT.
