“Asleep at the wheel”: Smith slams NSW Government for missing out on landmark NFL fixture

SEN’s Jimmy Smith has teed off at the NSW Government and Premier Chris Minns for failing to land the historic Australian NFL regular season fixtures for 2026.

Reports surfaced that the Victorian Government had secured three-in season NFL matches to be held at the MCG in Melbourne with the deal beginning in October for the 2026 NFL season.

Australia previously hosted a pre-season match in Sydney in 1999 between the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers but Smith is adamant the NSW Government have missed out on a golden tourism opportunity.
