The best bets for Sunday racing from the Cam Luke!

Cam Luke

CANBERRA

Race 4 | 5. Marais

Was so so in town last start but hit the line ok after a flat spot suggesting 1300 2nd up works. Berry goes on which I like and should be able to stalk the lack of obvious speed outside of Karmado. 7 placings from 8 starts a small concern but today is the day! Soft track no issue and fave too short back to 1300.

Race 5 | 2. French Ruler

Great Guineas as always but this bloke will be hard to beat. Had a great spring campaign and was really good in town 1st up against the pattern and older horses. 1400 feels nice and with some speed in the race Atellier, Shangri La Spring and Zounaka should allow FR to run on well.

Race 7 | 2. Gear Up #CamLovesACup

Resumes here as he did last year at Caulfield where beaten by DDS & YW. Will squeeze forward from that gate and be prominent. There will be some speed as Palmetto from a wide gate will look to cross so Gear Up can sit right on heels and have a lovely run. Soft track no major concern although it reads bad but has won on Heavy before so no concern about rain or chopped up track.

TAMWORTH

Race 4 | 6. Cossack Warrior

Don’t expect a huge amount of pressure on this bloke up front so controlling the race should be key! 2 months off between runs didn’t hurt him last start so I expect him to strip fitter off 3 weeks here! Champers Girl the danger here , will sit behind the leader from a nice draw. Had no luck in Highway last start and this is easier so maybe event Quinella them but I expect CW to be too good!!

Race 8 | 12. Not In Doubt

Went forward resuming and was ok in a tougher race. Drops back in class and distance and from that gate with a 4kg claim let her run! 2nd up form reads well and will be hard to beat. Will be some speed with the fave McTaggart from inside gate but hoping class prevails late.

ECHUCA

Race 7 | 1. Mowdown #CamLovesACup

Will need to run down C39 who will control the race but I think this horse is classier. 1400 is perfect normally runs well fresh and I think Prince Eric puts enough pressure on the fave to make sure no racing murder up front! Dry track also perfect for this bloke who I am hoping has some residual fitness even after a mini break (Jan 1)

Race 8 | 1. Boulder Jack

Will be alone in front with no other pressure which allows him to relax which he didn’t in town last start in a tougher race. The form he had prior to that goes close here! Inside gate and firm track will make it tough or Golden Warrior (1 out 1 back) to run him down.

STONY CREEK

Race 7 | 1. #CamLovesACup

Independent Road 1st Gorman (2nd) Exacta

Fam deserves fave but way too short. IR has same form lines behind Revelare although not as close! Hoping Newitt can take off and catch them napping hence the speculative exacta. Good track and no major other speed allows IR every chance to pinch it. Don’t go too hard financially.
