The Tasmania Football Club has made two major appointments to its inaugural football department.

The Devils have announced Derek Hine as the Head of Recruiting.

The former Collingwood recruiting and list guru will head up Tasmania's list build alongside Todd Patterson who has been appointed as the Head of List Management and Strategy.

Patterson, who grew up in Tasmania, has been the List Manager of Melbourne's AFLW team.

“The Devils have announced two key signings to its football department," SEN Tassie Breakfast's Brent Costelloe said.

"Respected figure Collingwood list boss Derek Hine will be the inaugural head of recruiting. Todd Patterson is coming home to be our head of list management and strategy.

“Both will face the media today in Hobart. That is a big big get for the Devils.

“Those names have been rumoured from the start. They’ve got a couple of very good choices and they will set us up for the future.”

Devils CEO Brendon Gale was thrilled to announce the appointments.

"Todd is known for his planning, strong talent ID credentials and deep analytical approach, hebrings a balanced, data-informed and values-driven style to building lists and managing football strategy.

"With experience across both the men’s and women’s elite programs, Todd is uniquely placed to help establish the TFC inaugural AFL and AFLW lists, building competitive, connected, and sustainable squads from the ground up."

Patterson was delighted with his new role and insists there is much work to be done.

"As a proud Tasmanian the opportunity to help build the teams that will represent our state in the AFL and AFLW is something that stirs immense pride and determination inside of me.

"The hard work has started well before today, but from a football sense it is time now to roll our sleeves up and leave no stone unturned to build the most competitive teams that we can.

"The opportunity to play with the Devils is a unique career opportunity for our potential players. The facilities and lifestyle that Tasmania offers help athletes maximise their potential."

Both will start their roles later this month.
