Melbourne are nervous about the prospect of losing Judd McVee this off-season according to Channel 10’s Lachy Reid.

Hailing from East Fremantle, Reid says there’s certainly some consideration happening from the McVee camp about returning home this off-season as his contract runs out at the end of the 2025 season.

“Look, I think there's a fair bit going on with Judd McVee,” Reid said on SEN WA The Run Home.

“I haven't been officially told whether he's put his contract on hold indefinitely, but there has been no deal with the Melbourne Footy Club.

“I am told within the four walls of the Melbourne Football Club that they're very, very nervous because they really rate him.

“He’s a small defender that I reckon has the ability to go up the ground and become a midfielder or wingman.

“He got towelled up on the weekend, which is a bit of a shame when you're trying to get a new contract, but that's a rare occurrence for him.

“I think Melbourne are quite nervous at the moment about Judd McVee and no decision has been made.

“I’m not saying he's leaving, but there is certainly consideration for him to come back home.”

McVee has played 58 games in the red and blue since being selected with pick 18 in the 2021 rookie draft.

He’s played 10 games this season while averaging 15.3 disposals and 4.9 marks a game in a defensive role.
